J0yce steffen

Joyce has had a love of tennis her entire life and enjoys so many aspects of the game.

From her early days in public parks growing up in Florida to captaining countless teams as an adult. For many years Joyce was a USTA volunteer and the Area League Coordinator for New Jersey. Not only did she run all the district and sectional tournaments in NJ, but worked several national tournaments in Palm Springs. She’s worked with IMG providing opportunities to play in a few pro-ams, with the most memorable experiences being on the court with Lisa Raymond and Martina Hingis. It also provided excellent seats for so many nearby professional tournaments and the ever-enjoyable World Team Tennis events.  Covid concerns broke Joyce’s 30+ years streak of attending US OPEN in Flushing Meadows.

Joyce graduated from Stetson University in DeLand Florida. With a finance degree she started in banking, but soon moved to production management in the printing industry. When her husband’s job moved them to California, Joyce began working for McGraw-Hill Education as a research associate and sample acquisition manager. When returning to NJ after two short years, Joyce continued to work remotely for 10 more years, until the company was sold.

Joining Hopewell Tennis and Swim has given Joyce the opportunity to join her professional career and her love of tennis.
